Conclusion vs 2023

We last did this post in 2023 and it is interesting to see some of the changes in those three years, which includes:

  • Wix Growth – Wix have gained significant market share in many markets, including:
  • Up from 14% to 17.8% globally, taking it from 4th place to 2nd
  • From 16% to 20.8% in the US, taking it from 4th place to 2nd
  • From 15% to 23.3% in the UK, taking it from 4th place to 1st
  • WooCommerce Decline – from always being in the top 2, Woo has seen its popularity decline across most markets, including:
  • A 6.1% drop globally (20% to 13.9%)
  • A 6.5% drop in the US (18% to 12.5%)
  • A 6.4% drop in the UK (22% to 15.6%)
  • Continued Shopify Dominance – Shopify continues to be the biggest player in ecommerce and grew market share in nearly all markets (with Russia being the exception)

So this does show a distinct change in the world of ecommerce and we also delved a little deeper and saw that hosted platforms generally grew with self-hosted platforms shrinking in popularity.

There has also been a rise in popularity in region focused platform such as Nuvem Shop, which is focused on the Latin American Market and Lazada, which primarily focuses on the Southeast Asia market.
