One of the features that Shopify doesn’t offer as standard is the ability to create, send and print invoices and if you want to do this, you are going to need to install an app.
And as this is Shopify, there are plenty to choose from but which ones are the best?
Well, we’ve gone through and tested all of the popular options to find what we think are the best options for your store.
Best Shopify Invoice App
Order Printer Pro came out on top in our testing due to it:
- Offering a good selection of features
- Being very easy-to-use
- Being reasonably priced
It feels like an app that will grow with your business as it is designed to be used with stores of all sizes and was the one that we found to be the most intuitive to use.

Testing The Apps
Testing out invoice apps was relatively easy to do but we looked at a number of different factors, that includes:
- The features they offer
- The pricing
- What they are like to use (using them with test orders)
And this allowed us to come up with a list of the 7 apps that we would choose for our own store to give you an idea as to what you can use for yours.
1. Order Printer Pro – Free to $40/month
Order Printer Pro has been our favorite invoice and order printer app for a long time (we even used it in our How to Print Shopify Orders tutorial), it is also one of the most popular and highly rated invoice apps on the Shopify app store.
One of the reasons why we like the app so much is that it offers some really good features, including:
- Multiple document types – this includes receipts/invoices, packing slips, returns forms, quotes for draft orders and refund/credit note
- Bulk management – you can choose to print and/or export order documents in bulk
- Automated invoices – you can set it up so that invoices and quotes are automatically sent to your customers, which can be a huge time saver
- Customizable templates – you can customize all of the templates (but this is done using HTML, CSS and Liquid)
- Translations & Multi-currency – if you sell internationally, the app supports translations, multi-currency, taxes & duties
If you want to create a custom template, you can install their Order Printer Templates app which allows you to easily customize a template to fit your brand and requirements, which can then be ordered for $29, with a 50% discount for each additional template.
The app is also really easy to use as it integrates with the Shopify order pages, meaning you can print and export order invoices really easily and once you have everything set up, you probably won’t have to go back into the app and they offer really good support as well.
In terms of pricing, Order Printer Pro offers 4 plans ranging from free to $40/m, which are:
- Free – up to 50 orders a month
- Starter $10/m – up to 500 orders a month
- Growth $20/m – up to 5,000 orders a month
- Scale $40/m – unlimited monthly orders
For small stores, the free plan is great and for larger stores the plans are very reasonably priced, with the $20/m Growth plan offering good value for money.
As an overall package, we really like Order Printer Pro and many of their customers also match what we think.
2. Sufio – $7 to $149/month
Sufio has created a very good app for managing your invoices on Shopify and offers a good selection of features, including:
- Auto-create & send invoices – invoices are automatically created from your orders and you can set it up so that they are automatically sent to your customers
- Bulk print & download – if you have a large number of orders, you can print, download and export them in bulk
- Custom design – easily customize the look of your invoices with logo and colors along with choosing what is and isn’t shown on the document
On the higher tier plans, you also get additional features that includes:
- Different document types – including pro-forma invoices, credit notes and quotes and estimates
- Multi-language and currency support
- Email templates
The app does integrate well with Shopify and you can choose to print and/or download invoices directly from the order overview page but everything else needs to managed in the app, which you can’t manage directly in your Shopify dashboard, instead it is managed through your account on Sufio.
And even though the account dashboard is easy to use, it would be nice if you could do this all directly in your Shopify dashboard.
When it comes to pricing, Sufio offers a selection of 4 plans, which are:
- Starter $7 – up to 15 invoices a month
- Growth $19/m – up to 50 invoices a month + additional features
- Professional $49/m – up to 5,000 invoices a month + additional features
- Premium $129/m – unlimited invoices a month + all features
The Professional $49/m plan offers the best in terms of the number of invoices and features that you get.
We do like Sufio, especially the document customizer as it is really easy to use and the app in general is easy to get up and running with, the only thing we would like to be able to do is manage it all directly in Shopify.
3. Vify – Free to $69.99/month
Another popular invoice app has been created by the team at Vify and it offers some nice features, with the following being available on the Free and Starter plans:
- Customizable templates – there is a nice range of free and premium templates that can be easily customized using the built-in template customizer
- Bulk processing – print and/or download invoices in bulk
- Email automation – automatically email and invoice to your customers
- Auto-detect language – automatically detects customer language based on their location
The higher-tier paid plans also include quotes, commercial invoices and premium templates.
The Vify app does integrate with the Shopify order manager and allows you to print orders directly from the overview page but everything else is managed through the app and it is easier to manage your order invoices etc through the app, which is nice and easy to use.
In terms of pricing, Vify offers 4 plans, which are:
- Free – can be used for the 50 latest orders
- Starter $8.99/m – unlimited orders a month + additional features
- Premium $29.99/m – unlimited orders a month + additional features
- Ultimate $69.99/m – unlimited orders and month + all features
While the free plan will give you a feel for the app, the $8.99/m Starter plan is the one that you need to use the app on a live store as it offers the features you need.
The Vify app is very good and the price makes it very appealing, especially for smaller stores but we would have liked to be able to do more from the main Shopify order overview page.
4. Softify: Easy Invoice – Free to $99.95/month
While not the most popular app on the list, Softify is definitely worthy of a place as it offers some really nice features, including:
- Multiple document types – this includes invoices, drafts, credit notes, packing slips and return forms
- Multi-currency – manually or automatically create invoices for different currencies
- PDF download links – add a download link to customer emails allowing them to download it directly to their device
The paid plans include additional features such as automatic invoices, multi-language and drag & drop designer to customize your templates.
Softify has a nice and easy to use dashboard and the app integrates really well with the order management page, meaning you can manage your invoices such as printing, downloading or sending directly from the order overview page.
When it comes to pricing, Softify offers a selection of 4 plans:
- Free to install – up to 50 orders a month
- Basic $12.95/m – unlimited orders a month + additional features
- Advanced $29.95/m – unlimited orders a month + additional features
- Enterprise $99.95/m – unlimited orders a month + enterprise features (ideal for Shopify Plus)
The free plan is ok for testing the app out but for most stores, the $12.95/m Basic plan is going to be the minimum that you want to use as it doesn’t have limited invoices.
Overall, Softify is a solid invoice app with a good selection of features and an easy-to-use dashboard, the Enterprise plan makes this one of the few that is geared towards larger Shopify stores.
5. Fordeer – Free to $59.95/m
Even though the Fordeer: PDF Invoice Generator app is a relatively recent addition to the app store (Oct 2022), it has become a popular and highly rated app that offers a good selection of features, including:
- Customizable templates – an easy-to-use customizer that allows you to add branding and choose what is and isn’t included on your documents
- Different document types – including invoices, packing slips and refund slips
- Bulk management – print, download or export invoices in bulk
If you go for the paid plans, you get some additional features that includes email automation and auto-language detection.
The Fordeer invoice app integrates really well with the Shopify order management page and you can easily choose to print or download your order documents, if you want to export them, then you need to go into the Fordeer app.
In terms of pricing, Fordeer: PDF Invoice Generator offer three plans, which are:
- Free – for up to 300 orders a month
- Professional $12.95/m – unlimited invoices + additional features
- Premium $59.95/m – unlimited invoices + all features and support
The $12.95/m Professional plan is the pick of the bunch as it offers unlimited invoices and all the features that you need to help you manage your orders effectively.
We were very impressed with the Fordeer invoice app, it is easy to use and offers a good selection of features and we couldn’t find many negatives about it.
6. Simplio: Simple Invoice – Free to $79.99/month
Simple invoice does pretty much what it says on the tin, it makes printing and downloading invoices simple and comes with some useful features, including:
- Multiple document types – this includes invoices, packing slips, credit notes, draft orders and returns forms
- Multi-currency support – supports different currencies for your documents
- Bulk processes – print and/or download invoices in bulk to save time
If you go for the paid plans, you also get the following features automatic invoices, multi-language templates, quotes and priority support.
The Simple Invoice dashboard is well, simple to use and integrates well with the Shopify order management screen, which allows you to print/download invoices directly or for more options, you can use the app.
When it comes to pricing, Simple Invoice offers 4 plans, which are:
- Free – up to 50 invoices a month
- Pro $8.99/m – unlimited invoices + additional features
- Premium $199/m – unlimited invoices + pro & additional features
- Platinum $79.99/m – unlimited invoices + all features
The Pro and Premium plans offer a good amount of features for a reasonable price and will be suitable for most stores, the Platinum plan is aimed at high-volume stores.
Simple Invoice is a really good app, offering a good selection of features, reasonable pricing and a simple-to-use interface.
7. Invoice Hero PDF – Free to $9.95/month
Invoice Hero PDF is a no-frills invoice app that offers some nice features, including:
- Automatically send invoices – automatically generate and send invoices to your customers
- Multi-currency & language – set up your invoices in different languages and currencies
- Customize design – a simple customizer to help you make your invoices fit your brand and choose what you want to be included on your invoice
The paid plans also include bulk download/send and proforma invoices.
The Invoice Hero app is pretty easy to use, although we didn’t find it that easy to print the invoices off as the app is more focused on being able to send them to your customers/download them.
In terms of pricing, Invoice Hero PDF offers a range of 4 plans:
- Free – up to 50 invoices a month
- Gold $5.95/m – up to 150 orders a month + $0.03 for each additional invoice + additional features
- Platinum $8.95/m – up to 500 orders a month + $0.02 for each additional invoice + additional features
- Diamond $9.95/m – unlimited orders + all features
The pricing is a bit strange as there is no reason to opt for the $8.95/m Platinum plan when for $1 more you can have the Diamond plan with unlimited orders and all features, which is why the Diamond plan is the one we would go for.
Invoice Hero PDF definitely gets the job done but it isn’t as user-friendly and feature-rich as many of the others apps we’ve listed above.
Conclusion
As you can see from this list, all the apps offer very similar features, with not much separating them.
For us, Order Printer Pro did come out on top due to it:
- Having a good selection of features
- Being very easy-to-use
- Being reasonably priced
And this is backed up by it having the largest number of 5-star reviews of all the apps listed, with many customers echoing our statements but all the apps on this list are viable options for your store.
